Old Saybrook Land Trust Sponsors a Nature Club for Children in Grades K-6

In recognition of the benefits of connecting children with nature the Old Saybrook Land Trust has sponsored, in collaboration with educators in the Old Saybrook school system, a nature club for children in grades K-6 called OAK (Outdoor Adventure Kids). Our town is fortunate to have a trail system that provides access to beautiful, protected open space.  OAK is a great way for kids and their families to have fun, be together and explore nature along the trail.

Teaching children about our community’s connection to the land instills an early regard for resource conservation that ultimately reflects our values, our quality of life, and our local history in perpetuity.

Visit the OSLT website “News and Events” to enroll in OAK. http://oslt.org/news_events.htm

Goals for Outdoor Adventure Kids:

  • Lead four hikes on town trails or other outdoor events with a naturalist
  • Train parent helpers to assist in programs
  • Educate on OAK interactive website quarterly
  • Add supportive education stations to trail systems
